Join Jordan Bassler from Seed Consultants at 9:45 AM and Matt Pickney from Syngenta at 11:00 AM for an in-depth discussion on diseases and seed treatments in corn and soybeans. Beyond the expert talks, we are offering Grain Safety Entrapment Training throughout the day, ensuring safety remains a top priority on your farm.

  1. Red Crown Rot – 15 minutes
    1. This presentation covers a new emerging disease in the eastern corn belt.  Specific topics include:

                                                              i.      Disease symptoms

                                                             ii.      Disease identification

                                                           iii.      Similar diseases

                                                           iv.      Chemical options for control and suppression such as in-furrow rates and seed treatments.

  1. Seed Applied Technologies – 15 minutes
    1. This presentation will cover options for seed treatments and the diseases and insects they protect the seed against.
  1. Understanding Fungicide Modes of Action – 30 minutes
    1. This presentation will cover what makes one fungicide different from another

11:15 AM: Resistance Weed Management and IPM

Matt Pinckney from Syngenta

1) Resistant weeds and what steps can be taken to improve herbicide performance.

2) Weed Identification, discussion about the impact of weed pressure on yield and which herbicides can be used to target the weeds that are present.

3) Discussion about Marestail, Tall Water hemp.

4) Identify invasive weed species

5) Utilizing IPM Practices to prevent resistance

6) Deep Dive in how herbicides work.

7) Discussion of residual activity of herbicides and how they react on different soil types.


Corn and Soybean Disease Management (15 min)
